The African Innovation Foundation (AIF) was entered in the Swiss Commercial Register on October 30, 2009. The purpose of the foundation is to support innovation and sustainable development in Africa.
AIF’s areas of activity encompass programmes & projects
in the fields of: Innovation & access to technologies, Governance, Education & culture and Health
The foundation seeks to establish cooperation platforms for institutions, investors and scientists and promote ideas to support them. AIF also wishes to promote transparent processes and procedures within the public sector and combat illegitimate appropriation and dissipation of resources within both the private and public domains.

New Anthropological Perspectives on Natural Resource Environments
How are natural resources implicated in social life? This project aims to develop a sophisticated anthropological approach to this question. While anthropologists have long studied natural resource environments, there has been a recent resurgence of such work as a result of various factors. These include a growing public anxiety regarding resource depletion, the rising notoriety of resource-related conflicts and disasters, and the turn to the study of materiality across the social sciences.
Our colloquium on these issues took place April 12-14, 2012 in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
